Saying Yes Brings SuccessSaying Yes Brings Success! That is…saying yes to the universe is a wonderful way to flow through life and discover that when you move yourself out of the way success happens. Now, I’m not advocating giving up your boundaries or saying yes to those situations which put you in harm’s way.  Rather, saying yes to every up-lifting, positive opportunity will take you on a journey far and beyond what you could have presently imagined for yourself.

So how do you say yes?  You say yes when you move out of resistance and surrender to Divine Creator. Being non-resistant is the best way to let the universe know you are ready, open, and willing to take part in whatever opportunity arises.  And that means ANY positive opportunity!  Such as: if your focus is on a career toward being a restaurant owner and along the way you have an opportunity to teach a business management class in Sri Lanka, India for nine months…say yes!  That opportunity will lead to another opportunity.  Perhaps the new opportunity will move you five steps closer to your goal of being a restaurateur; a significant leap toward your goal than if you hadn’t gone. Or, it’s also possible the new opportunity would present you with something you hadn’t thought of before positioning you onto a path that is the perfect fit for you, bringing with it phenomenal success.

The truth is every opportunity presented to you is, in some form, a desire you hold in your heart. Divine Source loves you so much the opportunity is granted.  Although sometimes it may not be recognized as an opportunity because you’ve moved on; or you aren’t sure how it’s connected to your desire; or you just aren’t paying attention to the fact it is an opportunity.  However, when you pay attention to a stranger offering you a pamphlet, a friend introducing you to a wonderful person, a job or project that seems to land in your lap (outside of what you might have considered) that pays exactly what’s needed at the time, you become aware of how the universe supports you.  At this level of awareness trust in Divine Creator and yourself is built allowing your mind and feelings to be in harmony with yes at the next opportunity.

When you stop to consider the way your life has flowed, up to this point, the situations and circumstances you’ve worked, forced, and pushed hard to make happen, probably left you tired, stressed out and incomplete.  There’s a saying one of my students shared with me recently; it is “While you’re making plans, life happens”.  Life certainly does happen and it offers opportunities regularly, whether it appears as a step toward your goals or not.  And since this is the way the universe operates, you might as well say yes to engaging, investigating, exploring, and/or taking action with whatever is placed before you. Of course, you know what happens then, don’t you?  It opens the flood gates for a plethora of more opportunities presenting themselves to you, nudging and helping you move forward.

Surrender through non-resistance, even if you don’t take advantage of some opportunities, allows you to flow more effortlessly into your success.  Saying yes to, “I’ll investigate this opportunity with an open mind and willingness to engage” is a form of flow.  You are indicating to Divine Creator your sincere gratitude in what’s been presented to you. It’s a clear message that you are in favor of more and more opportunities. Over a period of time, your yes’ out-weigh the no’s all leading toward your desired successful conclusion.

Michael Singer the author of The Surrender Experiment describes how, for one year, he said YES to the universe by surrendering to what came his way.  He had no plan except to be in non-resistance to what was next.  He took advantage of every opportunity that came his way.  He wanted to see where it would lead him and how his life would take shape if he simply surrendered.  All I will share is that today he has entered into a level of success that far surpassed what his original “planned or imagined life” would be.

In hearing about the book I immediately thought of the movie Forrest Gump.  Wasn’t he a man who simply surrendered with non-resistance and said yes!  He went from one opportunity to the next. He had no preconceived notion about what he was to do next or where he was going. He was only present, in the moment, with what was in front of him.  And although, Forrest was a character in a movie, he provided an excellent example of what happens when we just say yes.  At least Michael Singer thought so, which is why he set out to conduct the surrender experiment.

When you move yourself out of the way, all manner of glorious experiences can happen.  You may actually come across your soul mate or enhance the relationship you’re in. You may actually begin earning the income you know you’re worth. You may discover a new career or build on the one you have toward an even more successful outcome. You may improve your health and add twenty years to your life span. You may be awarded for the significant contributions you make to society.  You may become a member of the rich and famous club. The point is you simply don’t know how or when or where success will happen; it might happen in all of these areas and more.  But you won’t know until you say yes to bring success.
