When was the last time you resisted something? Were you even aware you were resisting it? Did you resist it because you didn’t want it? Or, did you resist it because you desired it so much you were too afraid it wouldn’t happen? Resistance is something you, initially, never learned. It is an innate part of you; an instinct like the flight or fight instinct when afraid. When born, located in the junk DNA are characteristics like what to fear, how to resist, a sense of direction and feeling deep compassion. But resistance, like many of the other characteristics, can be developed. From the moment of infancy you resisted going to sleep when tired. As a toddler you resisted doing what your mom told you to, with a resounding “NO”. And during the teenage years when you pretended to be sick or ditched classes to keep from going to school you learned the wonderful ways of resistance.
TYPES OF RESISTANCE
There are a myriad of ways to resist what you don’t desire and what you do desire. Some of those ways are very creative while others are so non-sensible one wonders how a person came up with them. So here are just a few of the ways you may express resistance energy, as it plays out through you:
- Wanting – To want something is the same as confirming you don’t and won’t have what you desire. The desire is being resisted because “wanting”, in and of itself, is a full expression of omitting the very thing you’d like to have. On an energetic level it is admitting you don’t have it and never will.
- Being a Victim – Being a victim is a way of thinking, believing from the poor me consciousness. This consciousness resists the Divine in you. You are a child of Divine Source, made in His image. Do you believe Divine Source is poor, meandering from experience to experience minding His own business and then ‘WHAM’ something happens and He becomes a victim? If you are as powerful, creative, loving and a divine being how are you a victim? To be a victim is to resist all of your capabilities! To be a victim is to resist your creative power! To be a victim is to resist your true power! To be a victim is to resist the experience of successes in your life…and if that’s your aim, then have at it!
- Procrastination – O.K. so I’m sure you know this one very well. Procrastination is a form of resistance in the most obvious ways. You put off what you don’t feel like doing; where you desire not to go; how you don’t desire to live; etc. It is the ultimate of “I’ll get to it later.” Obviously, when procrastinating, the desire to not act upon the specific situation is so strong everything else you’ve probably been procrastinating about, all of a sudden, seems very important.
- Avoidance – To avoid anything is the epitome of resistance. When avoiding any situation the resistance is so high one would rather turn away, walk away and run away from the undesirable energy rather than face it. Perhaps there’s the belief that avoidance will make the situation go away. Or maybe it’s like the child’s game of covering your eyes then saying, “You can’t see me…!” Whether running away or covering your eyes, not facing what’s before you when it’s an undesired circumstance, is the art of resistance.
RESISTANCE DESTROYS SUCCESS
Regardless of what steps are used to be successful, resistance automatically puts a halt to it. In Wanting something badly the effort put into making it happen continues to push it away. It’s the effect of trying too hard, causing what you’re reaching for to always be a fingertip out of grasp. But even when the goal is within reach, Being a Victim causes success to stagnate. When believing you’re a victim thoughts of being undeserving, why me, I give up, how dare [he] do this to me… and other stiffed thoughts and feelings of any kind, keep success from progressing because of the consciousness that anything good could never happen to you. Often there is more focus on being a victim, who cannot get ahead, than being focused on the goal. Convincing thoughts of ‘if something can go wrong it will’ can also take hold of your mind, holding success at abeyance and causing failure to become prominent. Of course Procrastination and Avoidance, the kissing cousins of resistance, destroys success because they move slowly or never attempt to approach the desired goal. It’s like looking at success and then shying away from it because it takes too much effort, looks too hard, it feels impossible to navigate through what is required to grab hold of the desired destination. When you procrastinate or are in avoidance how can you be successful if you’re not within smelling distance of the desired outcome?
3 PATHWAYS TOWARD SUCCESS RELEASES RESISTANCE
Success as defined for purposes of this article are the miracles experienced. That means success not only comes at the end of a pathway’s journey but also at various steps along the way. To complete one step in preparation for the next is a successful miracle – for without each previous miraculous step being taken you would not be able to move closer to the end of the desired journey. And, in order to do that there are 3 identified pathways to success and each one is a powerful way to release resistance. They are non-resistance, trust and faithful commitment.
Non-Resistance – Non-resistance is a critical concept, to not only understand, but to practice daily – minute by minute, second by second developing the consciousness of miracle mindedness as a tool for tearing down the walls of resistance. It implies “Going with the Flow” by moving in an effortless direction without breaking the stream of fluidity. Think of it as welcoming every single situation, regardless of what it is, with open arms. Your thoughts and feelings, in the form of resistance, hold you captive to the undeniable experience of choosing failure. Unless, that is, with every form of resistance you make the choice to be thankful for it, acknowledging the resistance in a loving way because it brings you closer to your goal. And then…to complete the flow of non-resistance, take the step necessary to move in a forward direction. So, be open as you flow into the process of a consciousness that is; Thank you, take the step…Thank you, take the step…Thank you, take the step for each and every experience along this pathway.
Trust – Trust is another pathway for releasing resistance and moving toward successful miracles. This can be best accomplished by opening and tuning into your heart rather than getting caught up in your head or lost in your feelings. Most resistance is because of a thought or feeling, as mentioned earlier. By trusting the most powerful part of you which is connected completely to Divine Source, resistance cannot exist. Trust the guidance you receive from Divine Source, it will always lead to miracles. As you follow this path, by the mere fact you are stepping closer to your success, avoidance has nowhere to go, procrastination becomes ‘why wait…do it now’ and wanting turns into having it completely. Start the process of trusting what your heart tells you, even when it doesn’t make sense to your head. Trust how Divine Source leads you by your open heart. Trust, that because you are completely open and directed, resistance falls away leaving you to tread upon an unencumbered road to the desired conclusive end.
Faithful Commitment – This pathway to success is as simple as making a commitment to yourself; a commitment to take action, regardless of what it is. One of the greatest ways to release resistance is to take action; be it physical action such as making a call, taking a walk, being on social media or an energetic action such as meditation, prayer or dream interpretation. To be faithful means to be “Full of Action”. Faith is a verb; an action word going way beyond only a hope, a wish and a prayer. When you make a faithful commitment to yourself you are literally taking the necessary step toward your success by moving away from resistance. And, the more you take action the easier it becomes to power through resistance; then, before you know it, your miracle is accomplished.
CONTINUING THE PATHWAYS TO SUCCESS
To be successful at anything requires using very specific methods to move the process forward. Here are three pathways for that to happen: non-resistance, trust, and faithful commitment. Nevertheless, to continue along the journey to success means staying focused, being diligent, garnering patience, being persistent, continuing to persevere through all odds and most of all, never give up! Each one of these pathways provide a remedy to release resistance, however since resistance is one of the primary success killers, following these paths and continuing to follow them, like golden rules, will yield the miraculous results you are desiring both through the journey and at the end.
