One of my best friends and I recently had an uplifting conversation where we were both reminded of how the challenges we face are simply opportunities for deeper spiritual growth. She shared with me a great motivational passage from the words of Joel S. Goldsmith in the book, “The Art of Meditation”. It reads: “Never look upon the discords and inharmonies of your life as if they represented a lack of understanding or a lack of demonstration. Regard these unfortuitous circumstances as opportunities which will be dissolved when they no longer serve their purpose as spurs to your spiritual unfoldment.”
When she read the excerpt to me it resonated throughout my entire soul. It was saying what I already knew but was unable to express in such a beautifully articulate way that…there are no coincidences in life. There are no arbitrary experiences where bad things happen to good people or no matter how hard you try for great experiences there is always a deluge of rain pouring on your head. Every situation, every circumstance is perfectly orchestrated to serve you. You may not be aware of it because, of course, you don’t want to lose your job, have the house foreclosed on, the car repossessed with no family or friends to help you. And, it doesn’t have to be that extreme. Everything may seem to go exactly as planned where your life, from the outside looking in, is perfect and abundant in every way but you feel as if you’re dying inside, complaining that your life is too easy and not meaningful.
JOURNEYING TOWARD THE SOUL
So, what exactly is going on? Why is it that challenging circumstances with feelings of dissatisfaction plague the very fabric of living life? Well, the answer is simple yet it is illusive from the full awareness of immediate consciousness. There is a story which goes something like this: When God created human beings He gave each of them a spark of Himself. This spark is so precious He knew He could not leave it within plain sight to be trampled on, dogged out, or taken advantage of. So God decided to place it where no one but the person him/herself could truly discover it. God encased the soul deep inside, deep within every human being. He knew it was necessary to hide it that way, ensuring it would be found only by the person to whom it was entrusted. But God didn’t just create the soul, He also asked each human to choose a quality of personal value to help discover the dynamic essence of their soul. In other words, He gave each individual the choice and ability to have a road map in which to uncover the soul and the essence of it’s light. It is the reason for the journey where the process of traversing all manner of experiences is designed to get one to the desired destination…the soul’s essence. For some the journeying choice is to discover peace; for others it is unconditional love, being in joy, having wisdom and understanding, freedom or courage. And, when the soul is discovered through the personal value quality one moves from the state of seeker into the state of just BEING.
ALL EXPERIENCES SUPPORT YOUR PERSONAL VALUE
Albeit, the question is; “What’s going on?” In actuality, whatever your choose as your journey to the soul, either consciously or unconsciously, all energy including your experiences move into alignment for you to desire, recognize and then experience your quality personal value. This is the inspired (in spirited) motivating force which also becomes your greatest lesson for growth. Therefore, if what you have chosen is unconditional love as your qualitative personal value in discovering your soul, you can experience everything from people hating you to loving you sincerely. You can experience the absence of relationships and companionship to being surrounded by people constantly, even if they don’t really know you or you them. The types of experiences you have, no matter what, are for you to learn and move along your pathway toward unconditional love.
There are no coincidences. There is only the Law of Attraction and the Law of Intention at work. Your soul, which houses the Real You, is continuously at work bringing into your sphere of possibilities all the opportunities required for you to succeed along your journey. It’s in evitable you have formed some type of judgment about undesired experiences and probably, you don’t understand why you continue to have these challenges. But until you no longer need the challenges and the triumphs to serve you as guides toward your soul where unconditional love, peace, wisdom, etc. is, you will continue to traverse along the track of peaks, valleys, rocky terrain and sloshy waters. What’s continuously required of you is your commitment and right perspective about your growth, the path to get there and the end result of connecting with your soul. At the point of your journey where the soul is met, the “Face of God” is seen and your new everlasting position is that of simply Being which is what you valued all along.
STATE OF BEING
What is Being? This question has been asked since the beginning of time. To be in a State of Being means you fully embody, without judgment and resistance, that which you are. You express that “Beingness” in ways of cool, collected, quiet neutral reserve. It is a true confidence which exudes…‘I am what I am’, without arrogance or pride. And, when you are in your true State of Being there is nothing outside yourself that moves you so deeply, internally, that you are shifted from your Being. It transcends knowing, thinking, believing, understanding, feeling and doing. They do not exist in your consciousness when you just are. As a spirit in a male or female body do you think, believe, feel, understand or do male or female? No, of course you don’t; because you are in the State of Being which expresses through a male or female body the way you do. It just is!
ALL GROWTH IS TRULY SPIRIT DEEP
So live in the awareness that you have chosen a quality personal value / characteristic to use as the means of connecting you with your soul and Being One With God. This is the tangible and intangible item of growth you experience in all ways because it is already the essence of you. This is why you must “Regard these unfortuitous circumstances as opportunities which will be dissolved when they no longer serve their purpose as spurs to your spiritual unfoldment.”
