When adults shared their words of wisdom with me, when I was a young lady in college, one of the things I heard often was, “Follow Your Heart!” I wondered what that meant, at the time. Was I supposed to only move forward with those things I wanted to do? Was I to only listen to “my heart” when it came to who I should love? How would I know if my heart was telling me something? Did it mean my heart spoke when I had strong emotional feelings about someone or something? Or did it mean to act on my impulses and not think things through? Maybe you’ve never been confused about what that term, “Follow Your Heart” means but I certainly didn’t have a clue; at least not until I grew older and wiser……maturing into what I thought it meant. That’s right, what I thought it meant. For many years I believed that to “Follow Your Heart” meant to rationalize, intellectualize and analyze a decision and then validate it by seeing if my heart “wanted to” or “agreed with” the decision.
Now how many times have you heard or even said to your best friend, “Follow Your Heart”, when she/he wasn’t sure which way to turn when making a decision from an emotional place versus a mental one. And did you really understand or know what that meant when you said it? Maybe you did but I have fully come to learn that it is not just an expression but an actuality. The heart truly has a consciousness greater than that of the brain.
In the Article * ‘Hearts Have Their Own Brain and Consciousness’ it states, “Far more than a simple pump, as was once believed, the heart is now recognized by scientists as a highly complex system with its own functional “brain.” Research, in the new discipline of neurocardiology, shows that the heart is a sensory organ and a sophisticated center for receiving and processing information.” It also goes on to say, “The heart generates the body’s most powerful and most extensive rhythmic electromagnetic field. Compared to the electromagnetic field produced by the brain, the electrical component of the heart’s field is about 60 times greater in amplitude, and permeates every cell in the body.” In case you weren’t aware, the electromagnetic field that is around your body is the aura and it is connected to the mind, and body consciousness. The heart is a part of that but it also has its own separate “aura” that is a more powerful consciousness. Now you know what’s in your aura are belief systems, feelings, instincts, goals, desires, family genetic consciousness and all manner of other energy. So, for the heart to have it’s own aura, stronger than that of the mind, is a validation that to follow your heart means to follow a level of consciousness that is more powerful and perhaps more sound than the mind. This is the comparative truth between Following Your Heart versus Following The Head.
In reading this article I realized that following your heart really is better than following your head because your heart is clearly aware of, in a most neutral way, what your desires are and how to accomplish them. I say that because science has measured and proven the physical, going beyond to the ethereal levels of how powerfully conscious the heart is. But taking it further, energetically it validates how when, Following Your Heart, you are listening to a divine aspect of yourself internally…..connected to the all of everything! It is already known that your heart IS the 5th dimension, a level of consciousness that surpasses just the physical urges and impulses of the body as it relates more to those cosmic levels of the higher dimensions.
Therefore, to follow your heart means to follow what is deeply true for you. It means being in that absolute place where peaceful emotions are experienced even if it defies the laws of logic and reason. Trust your heart……. when you choose to listen it will tell you what to do. It comes in the form of a quiet voice; a deeply calm internal resolve; a compelling desire; or an illuminated sparkle pointing the way. It really doesn’t matter how you receive the messages of your heart as long as you follow it; because when you do you quiet the chatter of the mind and the back and forth of reason or logic. Following Your Heart can be better than following your head, particularly when indecision moves round and round like a carousel going nowhere other than to create more confusion and emotional unrest. So exercise another way, a real way of living your life honestly and truthfully for you…..just “Follow Your Heart” toward your utmost desires!
