Have you ever experienced freedom? I mean being truly free, where nothing exists but you and the full experience of the Divine? There’s absolutely nothing like it! Freedom is always experienced subjectively by the individual seeking it. For example skydiving is an excellent way to experience freedom; not only in the way you may automatically expect but in more significant ways as well. Sure, gliding through the air is very freeing as you fall several feet through the air with no restrictions, nothing to limit you and only the exhilaration of being alive as an infinite being. But the real freedom lies in the growth, lessons and breakthroughs that allow your spirit to soar.
WHAT BEING FREE MEANS
Being free means different things to different people. This is why freedom is expressed in so many varying ways. There is freedom to physically move about your life as you please. An incarcerated person does not have that type of freedom. Then there’s freedom of speech where speaking about whatever is important to you, even if it goes against authority or the status quo, is alright. There is emotional freedom which transcends a multitude of uncomfortable feelings. And, there’s the freedom of ideas which you can always be open to receiving and expressing. Even in listing these types of freedoms, this list represents only a small sampling of what freedom actually is.
To be free, in essence, means to experience being free in all ways; emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually. I gave an example of freedom in the beginning of this piece. Elaborating a bit more, physical freedom is the ability to move your body without pain, when every muscle is utilized in ways outside of the boundaries and limitations restricted movements don’t allow. Skydiving? Yes! It is a physical sensation of freedom but the real freedom is freedom of fear. My own personal story is one that expresses this type of freedom well. I’d always wanted to skydive because I wanted to experience the vast endless sensation of floating through the air with nothing to stop the pure joy of the experience. For my friend, who had a horrible fear of heights, skydiving proved to completely be an exercise of setting him free from his emotional fear. He is a powerful man to all who know him except for the one area he set out to conquer. I agreed to go with him on his fearless quest because I wanted to experience freedom too, although for very different reasons. For me, skydiving represented the freedom of spirit being one with the universe at that moment. It was awesome!
What does freedom mean to you? Perhaps it’s freedom from prejudicial beliefs. Maybe it’s freedom of judgment or impatience. It might be freedom from complaining or grief, jealousy or self-deprecation, fear of animals or the death grip of ego. The list can go on and on and on and on. Freedom means to live, thrive, experience and express far beyond what is imagined or known, believed as truth, or any emotion felt within an instant.
THE ULTIMATE FREEDOM
Once you are set free from whatever you desire to be free from, a new limitation presents itself, until eventually, you’ve moved through a number of blocks allowing the experience of spirit to be free. This is the real act of shifting consciousness. Let me explain. Consciousness is the culmination of every experience you’ve ever had…all that you’ve seen, all that you’ve heard and all that you have come to know as real life. This consciousness is only based on partial awareness, for you have not experienced the thousands of possibilities which exist within a single energy form. In reality, a thought, emotion or action has thousands of experiential paths. The path you choose determines the experiences you will have. But those experiences are still limited because by no means do they represent the totality of what you, as spirit, could expand into. In actuality there are thousands of other paths left unexplored.
So, what if you were willing to consider the many other paths of experience? Just by contemplating the reality there is more than what you’ve experienced thus far, you begin to set into motion a deeper expansive view of reality itself. Your consciousness shifts and, in so doing, you are along your path toward real freedom – freedom of spirit which, by the way, is always free. It is an experience that opens you up to the full measurement of your inner power whereby you set yourself free, surpassing all that you’ve come to know is true, thus expanding your consciousness. The ultimate freedom, therefore, is that of experiencing the full essence of spirit…expansive and connected to Divine Creation. To start the process of achieving ultimate freedom, try these four things:
1. Decide what you desire to be free from
2. Make a written commitment, to yourself, to be free from it
3. Read the commitment everyday
4. Do the very opposite of what the restriction or limitation is (example: freedom from judgment requires giving thanks for every experience from the person, place or thing showing up in that moment)
THE REWARDS OF FREEDOM
It doesn’t take a neurosurgeon with a physics doctorate to understand or decipher what the rewards of freedom are. Again, if you’ve ever experienced freedom in some way you received the immediate growth or lesson that uplifted you beyond where you were and would never go back to again. It reminds me of another personal story that I will never forget – at least I will never forget how it made me feel. An ex-boyfriend, who I loved more than life itself at the time, was not the best guy for me to be involved with. His level of consciousness was not in sync with mine, so I held myself back to ensure we were on the same plane of consciousness. After several years of holding myself down and suffering because of his inappropriate attitude and behavior I cut him loose. As soon as I said “good-bye”, put his bags outside the door and changed the locks I experienced a phenomenal sensation. I was being raised in the air, clarity set in and it was like I grew in consciousness light years beyond where I was just a second before. That feeling, that experience was fantastic and it was one of the first experiences I had which motivated me toward the spiritual path I’m on now.
I’m sure you’ve had such experiences too. Perhaps not in the same way, but the rewards of freedom, I’m sure, were just as dynamic as the experience I described. So, have you figured out what The Rewards of Freedom actually are? The real truth is; freedom’s reward is the experience of moving closer to the divine part of you, the deeper essence of your spirit self. The rewards may manifest through your feelings, knowing or actions. It does not matter how you receive them, when being in the full experience of freedom’s rewards there is no doubt you expand into Divine Source consciousness. The blessed reward is simply, you get to experience something bigger than the self you have come to know, and it is so massive there is never any turning back, only moving full speed ahead.
