Giving and ReceivingAt the height of a wonderful winter solstice / birthday / Christmas party for a friend of mine, a group of fifteen women were asked these two questions: “In the New Year, What do you desire to give? And, what do you desire to receive?” The answers were as varied as there are grains of sand, yet every answer was deeply honest, inspired and demonstrated an overall theme of unconditional love, better self-care, empowering the world and spiritual growth. I felt invigorated and motivated from all the responses because they were genuine heartfelt answers which helped me realize that, no matter how dark parts of humanity becomes there are more people who uphold the light of the Divine. The type of light that shines so brightly it brings illumination into dark places.

SETTING GOALS AND MAKING RESOLUTIONS
This is the beginning of a New Year. A time when goals are set and resolutions are made. This is that period of time when you swear you’ll exercise more, give up alcohol, save money, lose weight, or perhaps start a new project you’ve kept on the back burner for a long time. But, as most people know, including you, any goals set during this time last an average of two weeks…and if you’re lucky, maybe it extends to a month. Then, poof!! The goals made and resolutions set start to fall by the wayside. First, only for a day and then a week and then before you know it, you’ve told yourself you’ll focus on them again, one day soon, which continues until you forget what they are.

I differentiate goals from resolutions, in two distinct ways. Goals are what you desire to give and resolutions are what you desire to receive. Setting a goal is a target desired to reach, by mapping out a plan with smaller goals along the way until the bulls-eye is hit. When you reach your goals you are giving to yourself or others, in some way that benefits the planet. For example; if your goal is to receive a higher level education, you give to the world a more professional, well prepared, and consciously expanded mind-set that creates new products, discovers new cures, helps shape the consciousness of others and so on.

Whereas a resolution is often something one is resolute about giving up or letting go of. It may be letting go of addictions, negative thoughts, habit patterns, an old car, a living space or relationship. No matter what it is, when becoming resolute about giving it up that which no longer serves you is the way you receive something better; a better place to live, a more unconditional loving relationship, freedom from the enslavement of addictions or habit patterns, etc. Your resolutions may take more discipline and determination to accomplish than goals because often, what you desire to give up you have become accustomed to. They are like comfortable old shoes you really hate to give up but know, in order to receive what you truly desire [new shoes, better supported feet, etc.], you must release them.

THIS YEAR WHAT DO YOU DESIRE TO GIVE? WHAT DO YOU DESIRE TO RECEIVE?
So, have you given thought to this year…what you desire to give and what you desire to receive? I’m sure by now you have begun setting goals and making resolutions. Perhaps, though, you haven’t thought about them the way I’ve laid them out previously. If you are taking a moment to consider them in these terms, what would they be?

I answered these questions by saying; ”What I’d like to give is unconditional love and a healing to every person I meet.” I went on to say, “This means the gift of acknowledging the essence of every human being in reminding her and him of the exceptional person they are.” As for my resolution; well it involves giving up any judgment about myself and all others. It means clearing the urges of thinking in terms of people being good or bad, right or wrong, loveable or abominable. To do so would affirm my own Divine essence and, in that consciousness, I would receive the gift of real unconditional self-love; something that would empower me a hundred-fold.

WORKING A PLAN FOR SUCCESS
Regardless of what you desire to give or what you desire to receive it always requires a plan to help you navigate through the darker energies that are chronic, urging, compulsory, nagging, and which force their way through to work against your desires. In essence, this refers to the relentless energies coming up that keep you from your goals and resolutions, where light dwells. Consider a plan, if you don’t have one, that has already proven itself to be effective in bringing about miraculous results.

It is a plan I’ve used and shared with others through-out the years. It’s the 30 Day Creating Miracles Plan. Now I know, I know the name of the plan sounds a bit corny…but it really works, if you work it! The plan involves a five step process toward successful results.

1. Decide what goal/resolution you would like to create in your life and become as clear about it, in as much detail, as you possibly can.

2. Clear negative thoughts, emotions, body sensations that keep you stuck rather than elevated to match the vibration of the goal/resolution.

3. Affirm the wonderful person you are.

4. Open your heart and raise your vibration in a positive way. It welcomes the
goal/ resolution to you through the Law of Attraction and the amplification of the Law of Intention.

5. This last step actually works to bring the goal/resolution from an envisioned
energetic dimension [ethereal state] into the physical material world.

Although this plan involves a variety of exercises, one each day for 30 days, any of the exercises can be repeated for several days or even weeks, based on the time required to master the highest level of each exercise. As one of my goals I’d like to see you succeed in accomplishing your desires by freely giving you this plan. The only thing you have to lose is what you desire to give up as your resolution.  And, what you are able to gain is the goal you’ve set out to accomplish.

Happy New Year! May your goals and resolutions for 2015 be met beyond your highest expectations!
